Perform a spraying test at the beginning of each mission and whenever starting treatment in a new field.
INFORMATION
Do not treat the full field until the spraying test has been successfully completed.
The spraying test verifies that the selected detection algorithm correctly identifies the intended targets and that the machine sprays at the detected target locations. It also allows the operator to visually check that the spray pattern and position are correct before treating the field.
A spraying test is recommended:
-
after maintenance, calibration or repair
-
after replacing or working on nozzles, spray booms or other spraying components
-
after a long period without using the machine
-
when changing the field, crop or treatment conditions
-
whenever the operator notices an unexpected detection or spraying behavior.
Test with water in the field
Use clean water for the test whenever possible.
INFORMATION
The spraying test is a functional verification. It does not replace the regular nozzle check or the maintenance and periodic inspection procedures.
Note that a successfully completed spraying test does not guarantee the absence of missed detections or subsequent false-positive crop spraying.
-
Prepare the machine for spraying according to chapter Surface treatment.
-
Make sure the appropriate detection algorithm, target and treatment parameters are selected in the tablet.
-
Prime the nozzles according to the procedure described in chapter Surface treatment | Beginning of the field.
-
Select an appropriate short section of the field for the test.
-
Perform one or two short passes with water.
-
Observe the detection of the intended targets during the test.
-
Stop spraying and inspect the treated area.
-
Verify that:
-
the intended targets were correctly detected
-
the spray was triggered at the expected target locations
-
the spray pattern is correctly formed
-
there are no obvious gaps, offsets or unexpected spraying areas.
-
If the result is satisfactory, continue with the treatment.
-
If the result is not satisfactory, stop the treatment and identify and correct the cause before treating the field.
Alternative test on a paved or asphalt surface
Where a suitable paved or asphalt test area is available, a spraying test can be performed without treating a crop.
Use suitable fake weeds/targets and the All Plants algorithm to verify both detection and spraying position.
INFORMATION
Clean the machine before and after testing on a paved or asphalt surface, following chapter Cleaning after treatment interruption.
WARNING
Only perform this test in an area where spraying is permitted and where the sprayed liquid can be safely managed in accordance with local regulations and the product instructions. Use clean water for testing unless the use of another liquid is specifically authorized.
-
Place the fake weeds/targets in the test area.
-
In the app, click New mission.
-
Select the application type All Plants.
-
Prepare the machine for spraying.
-
Perform a short test pass over the targets.
-
Check that the targets are detected correctly.
-
Inspect the sprayed area and verify that the spray is positioned correctly on the detected targets.
-
If the detection or spraying position is not correct, stop the test and identify and correct the cause before starting the treatment.
Test result
The machine is ready for treatment when:
-
detection is correct for the selected target
-
spraying is triggered at the expected locations
-
the spray pattern is correctly formed
-
no abnormal spraying behavior is observed.
If any of these conditions are not met, do not continue with the field treatment. Check the relevant machine settings and spraying system before repeating the test.
Refer to chapters Adjusting the working pressure, Nozzle check, and the relevant maintenance procedures when necessary.
