Preparing the sprayer for storage

At the end of each season

  • Clean the machine thoroughly.

  • Rinse the spray circuit.

  • Verify that no residual water remains in the boom after the last use to prevent dilution of the spray mixture during the next use.

  • Drain all crankcases and refill with new oil.

  • Check general lubrication of the machine.

  • Grease the cylinder rods in contact with the outside.

  • Check that all nuts and screws are tight.

  • Make all necessary paint touch-ups.

  • Replace worn or damaged parts immediately with original Ecorobotix parts.

  • Remove and respect the PTO shaft maintenance.

  • Store the tablet in a dry and dust-free place.

  • Store the machine in a dry, covered area protected from weather and moisture. For more information, refer to chapter Storing the sprayer.

Winter storage of lead-acid batteries

WARNING

RISK OF SHORT CIRCUIT, AND SEVERE INJURY

  • Do not smoke, use open flames, or create sparks near the batteries.

  • When loosening the negative terminal nut, ensure the wrench never touches the positive terminal or any grounded metal part of the machine. A short circuit can cause severe burns, battery explosion, or damage to the electrical system.

  • Always wear insulated gloves and safety glasses when handling battery terminals.

The machine is supplied with 24 V by two 12 V lead batteries connected in series. Unless the batteries are kept permanently charged throughout the entire winter storage period using a suitable 24 V lead-acid battery maintenance charger, they must be disconnected from the machine and the alternator to prevent leakage currents from discharging them while the machine is switched off.

Disconnecting the batteries:

  1. Using an open-ended or adjustable wrench, loosen the nut securing the negative terminal of the battery connected to the machine's most negative point, identified by the pair of black wires from the alternator and the electrical cabinet.

  2. Take care to prevent the wrench from simultaneously contacting a battery terminal and another conductive part, which could cause a short circuit.

  3. Disconnect the negative terminal.

  4. Position and secure the disconnected wires so that they cannot accidentally come into contact with the battery terminal or any other battery terminal during storage.

Reconnecting the batteries at the beginning of each season:

  1. Before returning the machine to service, check the condition of the battery terminals. If they are dirty or oxidized, clean them as described in the Maintenance chapter.

  2. Reconnect the negative terminal and the black wires from the alternator and electrical cabinet to the appropriate battery terminal.

  3. Tighten the terminal nut securely to ensure reliable electrical contact.

  4. Take care to prevent short circuits when handling tools around the battery terminals.

  5. Before starting the first mission after storage, it is recommended to run the tractor's power take-off (PTO) for approximately 10 minutes in a well-ventilated area or outdoors.

Battery maintenance during extended storage

If the machine is stored for more than 2 to 3 months, recharge the two 12 V lead-acid batteries connected in series to 100% state of charge every 2 to 3 months, using a commercially available charger suitable for 24 V lead-acid batteries.

The ambient temperature during charging must remain between 0 °C and 55 °C | 32 °F and 131 °F, subject to the battery and charger manufacturers' specifications.

Alternatively, the batteries may remain permanently connected to a suitable 24 V lead-acid battery maintenance charger throughout the storage period. In this case, maintain the recommended ambient storage temperature of 5 °C to 25 °C | 41 °F to 77 °F and follow the charger's instructions.

Freeze protection of the machine

Never spray or apply antifreeze solution to the environment.

Option 1

Option 2

  1. Flush the spray circuit.

  2. Empty the tanks completely.

  3. Completely empty the boom through the end-of-boom drain valve (optional).

  4. Store the machine in a frost-free place.

  1. Fill the rinse tank with 50 to 100 L | 13 to 26 US gal of antifreeze solution.

  2. Let the antifreeze solution circulate throughout the spray circuit.

  3. Spray the antifreeze solution onto a watertight floor where the antifreeze solution can be recovered.

WARNING

When using the antifreeze method, please pay attention to the composition of your product. It is best practice to use antifreeze designed specifically for sprayers. These products normally contain Ethylene Glycol or Diethylene Glycol, and should not contain alcohol.

To avoid potential damage to your sprayer's components, select a product without Ethyl Alcohol and derivatives (Methyl Alcohol, Tert-butyl Alcohol, Ethoxylated alcohol, Methanol), and Polyethylene Glycol.

At the beginning of each season

  • Read the instruction manual carefully.

  • Check the general lubrification of the machine.

  • Wipe grease from the cylinder rods.

  • Check that all nuts and screws are tight.

  • Check that all protection equipment is in place and in good condition.

  • Flush the spray circuit.

  • Check the end-of-season points of the periodicity table (Periodicity table).
